Go to the yard

“Go to the yard” is a game-trip through the districts of Vilnius, where families and their children can immerse themselves in a fun adventure of exploring the city together! The tasks in the different neighbourhoods will encourage children aged 6-10 to think, notice details in their surroundings, deepen their knowledge of objects in the city and take an interest in their neighbourhood. Or perhaps a street you’ve never seen before or an object hiding around a corner will be discovered for the first time, not only by the little hikers, but also by their companions?

The new “Go to the Courtyard” sequence game offers not only a journey through the streets of Šnipiškės, but also unexpected challenges to take a selfie in a mirrored building, to find a square with a running stream, fragments of a stone pavement that was once used by carriages, and to find out if it is possible to play basketball in the Dragon Meadow.

“Go out in the yard in Antakalnis” from mythical creatures to sorting graffiti, discoveries await all children with their parents and grandparents in Antakalnis with the new sequential journey game “Go to the Courtyard in Antakalnis”. This is the sixth district of Vilnius to be opened up to young urban explorers with the curiosity gene with this playful project.

The 12 clues on a walk through Antakalnis, one of the greenest and oldest districts of Vilnius, will not only lead you to ancient mythical creatures with the body of a lion, frescoes of the capital’s most famous buildings, the oldest linden tree in the city, a mural on the wall dedicated to sorting, or a sculpture of monkeys, but it will also reveal how clothes used to be dried or cars used to be repaired, as well as where you can find a mud kitchen, a type of ski, a ladder, a checkerboard and a chess table.

Although the route has a consistent sequence, participants can wander off and come back again if they spot something interesting along the way. Therefore, the duration of the route is conditional, ranging from 1,5 hours to as long as the children and parents are not bored.

Fish “dive” and toys “lie” scattered among all the tasks. The guide-historian Angelina Zaleckaitė helped to select these elements, which tell the interesting stories of Grigiškės. The idea for the project was inspired by the nearby toy shop and the salmon spawning in the Vokė River.
