Vilna Gaon State Jewish Museum: Tolerance Center

The Tolerance Center and the Samuel Bak Museum, located in the former Jewish theater, are the largest units of the Vilnius State Gaon Jewish Museum, where there are exhibitions of art, culture and history of Lithuanian Jews, cultural and educational events, conferences, film screenings and discussions. Here you can see the 18th century. artifacts from the non-surviving Vilnius Great Synagogue, to view the expositions “Jewish Life in Lithuania” and “Survived Lithuanian Jewish Child Tells About the Shoah” and changing exhibitions. in 2017 in November, the museum of the famous litvak, honorary citizen of Vilnius, Samuel Bak, was opened at the entrance to the Tolerance Center, which exhibits dozens of the artist’s works – from early drawings created in the Vilnius ghetto to mature paintings painted in the style of allegorical realism.
