Gallery “terra recognita”

This is a gallery of works by one author – the artist Saulius Vaitiekūnas, who has his own unique style and is therefore easily recognizable, and at the same time completely unpredictable. In his creative biography, completely different forms of expression – small stone and metal sculpture, jewelry, monumental sculptural objects and conceptual installations – are inextricably combined.

In the “terra recognita” space of the gallery, all these expressions become part of a single, constantly changing and renewing installation. Works intended for marking the body from sea-polished stone, flint and silver are transformed here into “ritual items”, votives, watches, jewelry and other objects that speak to the human body and soul. Meanwhile, the monumental and conceptual installations of S. Vaitiekūnas return to the gallery space as if to a home, to the original territory, to his own newly recognized land. In this way, the artist aims to interest the viewer not in a single object, but as a whole, in the gallery space itself, which becomes an authentic, independent work of art.
