The Ribiškės Hill Range
The best way to see what the retreating glacier left behind is to walk along the spectacularly shaped gullies in Ribiškės. Although some of the most fascinating walking trails are located in this area, they are still little known, even to Vilnius residents. Depending on your physical condition, you can choose between two different lengths of 3 or 6 km. Both routes start from the ‘Ibis Hotel’ (Minsko pl. 14) and take you through a wide variety of landscapes, from shady spruce forests to open viewpoints with sweeping panoramas. You will be pleasantly surprised by several preserved huts with a rural lifestyle. On a hot day, it is worth wandering by or wading across the mysteriously named Kaukysa rivulet, and if you come to Vilnius in winter, you’ll find no barriers to exploring Ribiškės on skis.
