The Botanical Garden in Kairėnai

The Botanical Garden of Vilnius University in Kairėnai is a real treasure trove of flora! Home to around 9,000 plants, some of them are familiar to us, but there are also some that will take your mind to the most remote corners of the earth. There is also a garden here based on the principles of the Japanese walk. In summer, Kairėnai often hosts open-air concerts. The Botanical Garden is also interesting for the sympathetically preserved buildings of the Kairėnai Manor and the old park with ponds. The Green Building, powered by geothermal heating and solar panels, is a modern development, with a terrace offering a view of the garden. The Botanic Garden also has two fixed orientation tracks (1.4 and 3.3 km long). Kairėnai is a remote location away from the city centre, so it is worth visiting if you plan to spend at least a couple of hours there.
