The Bernardine Garden
Once known as the Youth Garden and Sereikiškės Park, it regained the name of the Bernardine Garden after its reconstruction in 2013. However, it is not only the name, but also the original structure of the park with its rich botanical exhibition that now attracts residents and visitors to the city. It is worth a visit for those who do not want to move away from the main attractions of the Old Town but want to be closer to nature. Families with children can enjoy the merry-go-rounds and playgrounds in the Bernardine Garden. If you like chess, bring your own chess pieces and use the tables in the park to strategise your game with the Vilnius River burbling in the background. There’s also a pétanque court, a favourite of the French. Nature lovers will be pleasantly surprised by the variety of plants, including the oldest oak tree in Vilnius. It is almost 400 years old (you will find it next to the entrance from Šv. Brunono Bonifaco Street).
