The Jonušas Radvila Palace in the Old Town, where the Museum is located, has been undergoing a period of renaissance in recent years: the plans for long-cherished changes began with the partial renovation of the northern wing in 2019-2020, followed by the reconstruction of the southern wing and the opening of the building to the public on 16 March 2023.

Although the Museum is yet to undergo a major renovation of the entire palace complex, which will restore the historical structure of the palace complex and create a multifunctional art and culture centre, it is currently home to a number of long-term exhibitions (Vladimir Tarasov’s collection donated to the Museum, The Art of Protest: The Defiant Outsiders of the Soviet Union, Emilia Škarnulytė’s audio-visual installation Shining Rooms, and the 16th and 19th centuries. The exhibition of masterpieces of Western European painting “Vivid Profiles of the Old World”), short-term exhibitions, cultural events and education for different age groups are regularly organised.
