Pūčkoriai Nature Trail
The Pūčkoriai Nature Trail, which is about 6 km long, starts just next to the popular Belmontas (Belmonto g. 17), behind the bridge over the Vilnia River. Along the trail, you will see several historic buildings of the Pūčkoriai manor, including the cannon foundry that gave the place its name, and discover the enchanting beauty of the Vilnia Valley. The most impressive natural feature is the 65 m high Pūčkoriai outcrop, which is breathtaking both from above and below. Much of the trail runs along the Vilnia River, so you won’t go wrong with your swimming gear on a warm day. By the way, although Lithuania is not a mountainous country, it is said that the Vilnia River narrows so much in its lower reaches that it resembles a real mountain river. It’s especially fun to kayak along it, with many companies offering a 2-hour trip starting at the Belmontas Dam and ending at the White Bridge in the city centre.
