“Halės Smokehouse”
New York pastrami is a famous food symbol, the original version of which comes from Lithuania.
The pastrami sandwich with rye bread, mustard and pickles was created in 1888 in New York by Sussman Volk, a Lithuanian immigrant, in his delicatessen in Manhattan. Since then, it has spread all over the world and has won great gourmet acclaim. Rye bread and pickles – sound familiar?
Halės Market, opened in 1906, recreates the era, and BBQ masters smoke the meats only in oak to bring back the glory of this world-famous sandwich.
