Gallery “Vartai”

“Vartai” Gallery, founded in 1991, is the largest private gallery in Lithuania. The gallery aims to present the most diverse and distinctive contemporary art, not limited to specific media. It is open to painting, photography, installations, video art, sculpture, graphics. The gallery focuses on active international activities, the gallery’s extensive program presents Lithuanian and foreign artists in Lithuania and represents Baltic creators on the international art scene. Participated in over 30 international modern and contemporary art fairs in Europe and the USA. The accumulated experience helped the gallery to become the first private institution presenting Lithuanian contemporary art at the 53rd International Venice Biennale in 2009. Gallery “Vartai” presents such artists as Linas Jusionis, Julijonas Urbonas, Žilvinas Kempinas, Laura Garbštienė, S&P Stanikas, Mindaugas Lukošaitis, Vytautas Viržbickas, Ieva Rojūtė, Dominykas Sidorovas, Jurga Barilaitė, Aidas Bareikis and others.

In ongoing non-commercial projects of the gallery, famous world artists such as Ignasi Aballi, Jesper Just, Franz West, Erwin Wurm, Louise Bourgeois, Maria Lassnig, Maria Helena Vieira da Silva and others are presented to the Lithuanian audience.
