Estradà
The city’s first singing hall with an open stage, Estradà
The Songhouse is a small and independent space with live performances at its core. Music is a major focus here, but it is not limited to music. In addition to concerts, the songhouse also hosts discussions, talks, presentations, auditions, readings and other educational events. The atmosphere is intimate and everything is very close.
“Estradà” contributes to shaping cultural habits and pace. Despite the size of the space, the goals, vision and ambitions of the place are big.
The word “Estradà” has several meanings. It is an uplifting, sentimental old Lithuanian Estradà, a musical genre. Taking the past into account and drawing on the best historical examples, the venue is creating a new “Estrada”.
“Estradà is housed in a building that has a long and chequered history. In the past, the Charity Society built shelters, workshops, a chapel, a hospital, a school and apartments for the poor of Vilnius at 22 Vilniaus Street. It was also home to a youth café-reading room called “Čitalka”, which was not subordinated to Soviet ideology, and the first Lithuanian jazz club. We must not forget the “Vėjai” bar, which to this day evokes sentimental memories for many.
